भारत सरकार ने “केंद्रीय उपकरण पहचान रजिस्टर” पोर्टल लांच किया

• भारत सरकार ने चुराए गये मोबाइल फ़ोन को ट्रेस व ब्लॉक करने के लिए “केंद्रीय उपकरण पहचान रजिस्टर” (Central Equipment Identity Register-CEIR )वेब पोर्टल लांच किया है। यह पोर्टल दूरसंचार विभाग के अधीनस्थ काम करेगा।
• “केंद्रीय उपकरण पहचान रजिस्टर” का मुख्य उद्देश मोबाइल फ़ोन की चोरी की समस्या को हल करना है।
• इस वैब पोर्टल में ब्लैकलिस्ट किये गये सभी मोबाइल हैंडसेट के IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) नंबर का पूरा डेटाबेस होगा।
• “केंद्रीय उपकरण पहचान रजिस्टर” (CEIR) पहले केवल सिम को ही ब्लॉक कर सकता था लेकिन अब वह मोबाइल तथा  GSMA डेटाबेस (Global System of Mobile Communications) को भी ब्लॉक कर सकता है। 

The Government of India has launched the "Central Equipment Identity Register-CSIR" web portal

• The Government of India has launched the "Central Equipment Identity Register-CSIR" web portal to trace and block stolen mobile phones. This portal will be subordinate to the Department of Telecommunications.
• The main objective of the "Central Device Identification Register" is to solve the problem of mobile phone theft.
• This web portal will have a complete database of IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers of all mobile handsets blacklisted.
• The "Central Equipment Identity Register" (CEIR) could previously block only SIMs but now it can also block mobile and GSMA databases (Global System of Mobile Communications).
